Pediatric Services:

  • Visual Reinforcement Audiometry: The sound booth is equipped with VRA to reward head turns elicited in response to auditory stimuli. Ear specific thresholds, word discrimination, and aided sound field responses can be quantified.

  • Conditioned Play Audiometry: CPA strategies vary, based on the developmental level of the child: the method involves conditioning the child to respond using toys and activities selected to hold attention long enough to obtain reliable ear specific tone and speech audiometry responses.

  • Tympanometry: Middle ear status and broad-band acoustic reflex stimuli are available to measure PE tube patency, middle ear status, hearing level screening. Both 1000Hz and 226Hz tones are available for measurements on infants and children.

  • Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions Testing: Used in follow-up testing for infants who fail the newborn hearing screening prior to discharge from the hospital, these tests capitalize on the discovery that a normal cochlea will generate a sound in response to a specifically shaped stimulus that is frequency specific.

  • Non-sedated Auditory Brainstem Evoked Response Testing (ABR Test): Bluetooth clinical ABR equipment precludes the need for sedation because myogenic interference does not occur with the wireless transmission of signals. ABRs are used to quantify newborn hearing loss and rule out auditory neuropathy.
