Cochlear Implant Q&A Session

Have you ever been told you may benefit more from a cochlear implant than hearing aids, but are unsure about how an implant works and sounds? Cochlear implants were first approved for use in the 1980s and the candidacy criteria keeps expanding as the technology improves. Appalachian Audiology now provides audiology services for cochlear implants so that a greater number of individuals can easily access this underutilized technology.

During this seminar, Dr. Andrea Plotkowski will present on candidacy criteria, the evaluation process, and the steps of receiving an implant. You will learn how the technology works and see the options for internal and external parts. We will review outcome expectations and discuss the adjustment and rehabilitation period.
